Earlier this summer I had the opportunity to work with Paciugo Gelato (Right across from the movie theaters at the Shops at Norterra on Happy Valley). The owner, Charles, commissioned me to take some images of people loving his gelato. Since his gelato is FANTASTIC, it wasn't that hard to do. In fact, we were cracking up the whole time because we were supposed to be "working" but what we were really doing was scarfing down yumminess. Seriously. There isn't a bad flavor at this place. And the best thing is that, because of the way it's made, it's actually better for you than ice cream! It's true. Charles is my food-boyfriend.
To help draw the eye, we decided to de-saturate everything but the gelato. It's product photography, but I wanted it to be real people, really enjoying the product.
This is Shana, one of my best-est of friends, and her fantastic hubby Dominik. Because they are fantastic actors (and singers) I asked them to help me with the shoot. But really, the gelato was so good there was no acting required. How cute are they?
And here are the images up in the space. (Please excuse the point and shoot camera.) They were printed on a special firm material with a plastic spray. I'm so excited by how they turned out, and I think the no-frame design fits very well with the "European sophistication" feel in the store. It would also be a great modern way to display portraits in the home.
